How we give back
Zig Zag is committed to long-term, meaningful and sustainable engagement with the local community.
We manage and support one of Livingstone’s biggest community projects working with vulnerable people in one of the poorest areas of Livingstone town.
We are always grateful for donations of items such as:
- art supplies
- cotton underwear
- school shoes for the children
- dog collars and leads for the animals.
New or gently used items are much appreciated.
If you would like to know more about our projects, please get in touch.
Tutalike Life Begins
TLB is registerd in both UK and Zambia and is focussed on helping children into and through the education process. We run a nutrition centre which offers educational play to between 65 and 80 children every day, sponsor 45 children into school, and provide food support to 130 vulnerable families - where there is an elderly, disabled, or child-headed family.
We also do advocacy for the rights of children, elderly and disabled people, provide support to families through abuse cases and work closely with main government and local council departments. We strongly believe in keeping families together, which sometimes involves providing food, or repairing houses, or assisting in starting a small business.
Our group of drum majorettes is an excellent way of giving girls a focus in their lives, self esteem and security. Many of our regular clients visit our project every year.
Livingstone Animal Protection Service
LAPS was started in 2014 to improve the health and welfare of domestic animals in Livingstone. Our main focus is working in communities where people are don't know about or are unable to afford veterinary care. We offer free vaccination, treatment and sterilisation of dogs and cats, we rescue, rehabilitate and re-home street dogs and we visit schools and clubs to educate children on how to look after their pets.
We have been inspired by how we have been welcomed into homes and communities and how keen people are to learn how to look after their pets.
